the day after yesterday: a performance proposal
@Kunstlicht's "Algorhythms: Living In and Out of Sync with Technology" launch
To celebrate the launch of Kunstlicht's newest edition, they invited Utopia Syndicate to perform. In reaction to the edition's theme, "Algorhythms: Living In and Out of Sync with Technology," we shared two practices: hope altar building and futurity catchers.
As a mode of collective creation of a hopeful future, we have been collecting items items that represent things that daydreamers (or people who come into contact with the practice) hope to be in their future. We ask for items that would be present in your Utopia. At BAK on June 10th, we built the altar and shared some of the items that have been added.
Futurity catchers are modelled off of fortune tellers, cootie catchers, chatter boxes, or whatever you might call the paper game played by children to either predict the future or engage in questions. We played these with visitors of the launch during the drinks period. Daydreamers were invited into small utopian spaces to play with us.
